I think WP7 caught everyone off guard...

Color me impressed. I'd have to say that I'm happy Microsoft is taking the bold steps needed to assure quality across its mobile platform. The hardware requirements and desire to leave the visuals of WP7 intact will help quality and consistency. Even if you don't agree that the interface is pretty or usable or whatever, you have to commend Microsoft for developing a solid product and standing firmly behind it. I'm a little excited to finally see some shake up in the mobile arena.

Also no syncing for contacts and such is great. Finally. Also I'm happy they added WiFi Zune sync also, one of the coolest zune features after zunepass.

If you're not a Zune user.. if you're not an xbox user...if you prefer Google over Bing.... WHY WOULD YOU BUY THIS PHONE? I want a phone for THE INTERNET.....NOT to be brainwashed and herded like a sheep into using Microsoft's other products.

Microsoft is finally trying to integrate their various platforms.

That said I really hope they've improved IE, it's a terrible browser and has never been as good as Webkit

sounds like this apple fan boy is on the iPad. What kind of moron would expect microsoft to use anything but its already very successful (OK overstating the zune) platforms to improve the only product in their lineup that lacks. So feel free to be angry for no reason but you sir make no sense. The other sheep and myself welcome you to leave because this is a day of redemption for Microsoft HAZAAAAAH

1) He didn't mention Apple at all. In fact, he mentioned Google. Instead of blaming "Apple Fanboys" for criticism of MS, ever take a look at the fact that...

2) Your definition of "success" is very different than most people's.

3) By most definitions, Microsoft only has two "successful " platforms - Microsoft Windows 7 and Microsoft Office. Windows 7's only real definition of success was "It's not as bad as Vista or XP" I'll vouch for that, but it's 2010. Office just keeps lingering on. Everything else (Bing, MSN, XBox) can be described mostly as "not a complete failure." But by most standards kind of are- anything that loses billions of dollars over 5 years to lukewarm reviews and shoddy reliability (XBox) would be a failure in most ...

You must be new, Blue has long been a trasher of anything that makes apple or their products look dated or have a competing force. Hes also suffering from a fact...that fact is that all manufacturers are gunning for the iphone, and collectively they may succeed. Hes just sad its over...finally

Well if you don't like it don't buy it, simple as that. I don't like apple products so I don't buy an iphone. Why would microsoft use anything but their own software. That would be like getting pissed at Android because you want to use Bing instead of Google.

Because of how different it is. It's not trying to be all eye candy. There are some neat transitions, but it's a wholly new look for a UI.

My only real concern is how this device will be able to work with power users. Most people I know who use WINMO do so for business. I know that they are working on trying to capture a new market, but I'm hoping they don't forget their business core.

Well, their "Business Core" isn't exactly a strong market for WinMo- most business people use Blackberries or now iPhones, that leaves the MSDN IT-guy-tinkerer crowd (usually the fattest person in the room...)

What I'm more wary of is how micromanaged everything is- it's trying to integrate too much with these social networks (ala BLUR) and if it's not done right you end up with a clunky mess (ala BLUR.) It works fine for the demos, but after a month you just shut the damn feature off.

Its def. a nice looking UI. I'm glade Microsoft took the chance, they need to. We will see how well it actually runs in the real world. I hope it is a success since it will make Google and Aple work harder.
