but t-mobile only has a 1.3 mbps 3g any way so its not like it would be slowing down that much... I'll stick with my 3.1 mbps network, that does not slow me down, android is open and will go to every provider soon enough.

Feel free to...but 3G won't work. Rather have 3G with a 1GB "Soft Cap" then none at all.

Tmo's 3G network runs on the 1700mhz band.
Where as AT&T's 3G network runs on 850/1900mhz bands.

Or the TouchPro and Diamond. Still this seems like a great phone, but to be hampered by 1gb. Lets be honest here, when VZW, Sprint and AT&T started a 5gb softcap, people went nuts, bitching and moaning. TM comes out with an exciting new phone, they give 1/5th the data and people here go, "well thats OK". Well no it isn't.

I agree with you ten fold! This cap is absurd! A phone of this type running full HTML is going to consume more data especially in the hands of whom this is gauged for.

Sounds to me like T-MO is trying to avoid the same thing AT&T is dealing with right and us iPhone users. Were extremly upset that it loses signal and the 3G isnt faster than the average 2G. AT&T says its because there's too many people on bogging down the network...

Three IS a noticeable improvement with the 3g iphone, I have one and can tell you there is. Not somebody who's brothers, friends cousins, boyfriends uncle who has the phone and has problems. There will be a noticeable difference with the G1 running under hsdpa then edge. I think these are both fine devices.

I don't believe this 3.1mbps crap at all! Do you have an aircard in your laptop right now??? If so, go to Cnet's Bandwidth Test website and do a test. You get back to me.

The fastest speed I've ever gotten on ATT's network using a Nokia N95-3 is 2379kbps, that's in Las Vegas. Using the Opera Mini 4.1 browser. I get much faster average though when using Skyfire.

Advertised speeds mean absolutly nothing, only real world speeds.
