GSM unlocked phones are pretty cheap without contracts.... CMDA phones are too expensive to buy without subsidies.
...
I can got get a verizon curve for $175 off craigslist and activate with no deal...id say thats a pretty fair price.
I know there are way more unlocked gsm devices out there, but I would rather pay more and get better voice quality in the states with a CDMA device.
...
I agree! CDMA sounds better.
GSM sounds garbled at times even with a full signal - hate that!
...
I just can't stand the damn speaker interference. I love sim cards, but I miss CDMA.
...
Absoultly I have been looking lately and the price of phones though ebay and other sites have been fairly reasonable, and I think Verizon has taken note of this.
...
yeah its a smart move, and a fair move on their part.

Those "the network" advertisements have people like you brainwashed.
Verizon isn't perfect, I've been with AT&T almost 7yrs, no problems with making or receiving phone calls. 7yrs, signal is fine.
...
im far from brainwashed. My entire immediate family has att and I even had them for about 2 years a while back. The signal is garbage!
I dont even like talking to my fam, unless they are on a landline. The sound quality is not as good as verizons, nor is their coverage. Thats not brainwashing, thats just a fact.
If att works for you, great!
Im sticking with my verizon service tho.

yep, 7yrs ATT has worked for me, I live in LV, and I have my mother on my acct, and she lives in Connecticut with a 702 phone #, her phone works fine there, and mine works fine here.
The reason I used the word brainwashed is because of the advertisments, people let marketing make they're decisions rather than reality.
...
i feel ya, but I have made my own decisions about verizon and I like how they run things and its a company that has worked for me and has supported me through the years.
Att isnt a bad company, it just doesnt fit my needs, but to each their own.

I've been month-to-month with Cingular/AT&T since October 30, 2005.
