Some people aren't looking for anything new. This phone isn't as ugly as the Coupe. Also, if I wanted a really simplistic phone, and it was between this phone and the Coupe, then I think that I'd get this one. I'm not a fan of UTStarcom, personally.
My problem with phones like this is that it's not really as though they're designed from scratch with simplicity in mind. Instead, the manufacturer opts to remove functionality, rather than actually redesigning the way that things are accessed in order to make them more intuitive. If you want to make a simple phone, then I've got news for you: Don't use soft keys. Far too many people fail to understand them for some reason.
By the way, I'm not a fan of the position of the 911 key on this one. It looks like it's gonna be way too easy to hit, especially in comparison to the one on the Coupe.
