If you knew ANYTHING about iDEN phones you would know it is a construction worker rugged walkie-talkie phone... nothing more!

I understand, but I'd still rather have the boulder or something...unless this one's free...it's tough to beat free.

If that's the case then why do they need a new model. I'd think one model would be fine.

He said all they need is a construction worker rugged IDEN phone, nothing more. I'm sure the phones they already have out meet those specs. Why do they need a new one?

Are you my mom? You must be because you took time to write to me and tell me I'm 14. You must have a myspace and be super creepy. I don't know how else you would have guessed it. Good job, oh and I cleaned my room so don't worry about it.

This made me laugh, a lot, right here in the middle of my kiosk before close, people are looking at me. It's very juvenile, but I can't stop laughing.

Thank you, thank you very much. I'm glad you got a laugh. That's what this whole thing was about. I enjoy making people laugh. I too work at a kiosk. I hate XM25

I thought that VZW had finally developed a passable PTT system that is to be introduced soon. Is that just a rumor, or does VZW really have something in the wings?

not a rumor, the service has already been launched along with new phones that are not "crappy." it runs on evdo RevA, and speed tests are showing it to be camparable to Nextels.

What about the feature set? Does VZW's new PTT also have:

Group Connect
TalkGroups
Direct-Send
Direct-Talk,
NextMail...

...or the equivalents?

What features besides fast PTT does this new VZW service have? And how much are they charging for it?

BTW, can any of the ruggedized VZW PTT phones display time in 24-hr mode? This is a must for military and emergency-services users, but last time I ws in a VZW store (about a year ago) the sales person told me that NONE of VZW's phones could display time in 24-hr mode. Hopefully they have corrected that little oversight.

Lastly, what technology is their new PTT actually based on? I've heard conflicting reports.

Latency is still an issue. Their system works over the net, so it is subject to network speeds and congestion. Nevermind the fact that no CDMA based technology is even capable of instant connections because of the slot cycle index. No directalk either. No signal means no service, therefore an underground construction crew still needs an extra set of walkies along with their phones.

When I saw the picture I thought to myself gosh brand new and it's an antique already! I thought to myself that belongs on my tv stand right next to my old Motorola DynaTac.

I collect antique cell phones.
