So far what I've noticed after updating to iPhone 2.0.1 software

Safari seems to be a bit faster when it comes to loading webpages Camera loads noticeably faster than it did on 2.0 . Phone app (for calling) loads faster and doesn’t freeze when I looked for contacts like it has before Location service less annoying for a fact. I JUST used maps. (and it didn't ask me if "maps" can use your location message)

Overall, I can say that my 1st gen iPhone has become snappier than it was on 2.0

What I noticed on my 3G iPhone was much better reception then before, and the speed is improved especially when accessing contacts.

Yeah I was wondering the same thing. Does the update automatically take place or do you have to find it in itunes?

You get the update via iTunes not the app store.

It took me 15 minutes to complete the upgrade. Switching between apps is noticeably quicker, keyboard lag is gone. There are no front end upgrades, its all behind the scenes.
