As Verizon eats up independent carries, what's going to be left to provide competition for them? Wait, I'm looking into my crystal ball, it's becoming clear, wait! I see the future, Verizon gobbles up Sprint! Mission Accomplished.

Your wrong, Verizon views any other company as competition no matter how small or large, no matter how big or small their customer base is. Believe it or not, Sprints $99 everything plan has made a small but noticeable dent into Verizons customers that have Windows 5/6 mobile style phones. Sprint knows it too, they have seen many people that can afford the jump, do so. The $99 dollar offer was supposed to have ended months ago, it has been so successful for Sprint, that I see Verizon offering a plan like it if they see more customers abandon their service. I see Sprint offering this service as a staple of their product offering.

Aug. 6 (Bloomberg) -- Sprint Nextel Corp., struggling to stanch mobile-phone customer defections, posted a third straight quarterly loss and plans to raise $3 billion to help pay off debt, pushing the stock down the most in five months.

About 776,000 contract subscribers fled last quarter and Sprint disappointed analysts by predicting higher defections in the next three months.

Verizon doesn't need to acquire Sprint. All they need to focus on is making sure those defectors are signing up with VZW.

divinakohl... so why does sprint suck? I would like to know. I have sprint and have never had a problem. if there is something that you know that I don't, please fill me in. I shopped around and found that Sprint offered me what I was looking for at a real good monthly rate. better than everyone else and again really never experienced anything out of the usual problems that other carriers have had. so please tell me because your so influential in my life. if you can tell me what is wrong, I will rectify my interest, pack my bags and move on to a different carrier.

PS. I was in buffalo ny visiting friends that have verizon. nothing wrong with that. verizon is a good company. but the point is that we ended up watching sports updates and t...
