remember when att got Dobson, att sold the excessive spectrum to VZW

AT&T was listed first in the RCR article as a possible candidate for the divestitures.

When Cingular purchased AT&T Wireless, we had to go through the same type of thing. Funny thing is that this divestiture of markets is what allowed Alltel to enter the North Texas area. Cingular had to divest itself of a few markets in North Texas, and Alltel purchased them. Now that this is going to take place, ATT may be able to purchase these assets back.

Most likely AT&T will gain but here is what really should be looked at

if this happens after the election and Obama is elected he will apoint an new FCC chair (breaking the 2-2 tie) that will result in harsher limits on the spectrum holdings.This will be for both Verizon in this deal and any potential sell off to the other large guy AT&T. Not saying this will happen or is bad/good just a thoguht.
What about the GSM holdings that ALLTEL had those should go to AT&T their coverage shure could use it 🙂

2 things:
1) this is One more reason for wireless employees not to vote for obama, it'll just make your job more difficult
2) T-mobile needs the coverage more than ATT. Before you go off on me aout how XYZ wireless has crappy coverage in your area, that's why you are with T-Mobile, my statement concerns their nationwide footprint. local coverages will be ...
