but at&t will just sit on the spectrum they have and not expand their network. they may add 3G(slowly) but actually adding towers to areas they have spectrum in that they don't have coverage will not be a priority. they don't want the best coverage in their home country, they want the best 'global' coverage.

Actually at&t spends more expanding its network each year than any other carrier. Not sure where you are but it costs over $250k to build a site, and so it needs make financial sense....

Dude I've NEVER heard them claim that they spend the most to expand nor have I ever read that statement, but cell sites actually cost around S500k on average. $250k is a bargain!

im pretty sure verizon spends the most on expanding their coverage. you can see throughout the news of verizon spending millions to expand coverage. thats why verizon actually has more coverage in the US then any other carries

I concur. Verizon spends the most to cover the most area with its network.

I just went to go visit my brother in Jacksonville, FL 2 weeks ago. My reception is good enough at his home, with occ a dropped call. He has AT&T (almost full 5 bars on his cell phone). My dad who is retired visits both of us a lot. My dad has verizon also, and occ has a dropped call at my brother's place since his home is on the fringe of two cell towers.

** Now get this **: My brother informed me that recently in his homeowner association monthly letter, he read that the homeowner association is in talks with verizon on letting them build a tower on unused land where the local power company will build a power substation soon...
