Sprint, really turning it around?

The Treo 800w failed network compatibility tests with both Verizon and Sprint, states a source from Palm, and Sprint still thinks it's alright to release the device first, with "exclusivity". Is this Sprint's idea of change??

When was the network compatibility tests done? What is the position of your Palm source? Is that person on the team that design and tested the Treo 800w? ๐Ÿคจ

My source states that the tests were completed in july 2008, the source is a palm sales agent, focused on verizon ops. My source states that "Sprint accepted the equipment contract with the promise of immediate future s/w updates."

So a Verizon Palm rep said this and you do not discredit this in anyway. I have yet to talk to anyone from Palm who has the same information.

I didn't discredit the information because it came from a reliable Palm rep, not a verizon rep.

How did the Palm rep get the information? I don't think Palm will be posting test results on their internal website or post it on other websites.

I was told that the Verizon tests failed, and the Palm employee inquired about the Sprint results somewhere internally to get the Sprint info. I, truthfully, hope it's not true because that would mean Verizon won't release the 800w, and that Sprint will release abother buggy phone... Not to mention the effects on Palm.

Why do people think that ground agents have all the info as to what's going on in the company? That's like thinking a sales rep for Sprint is going to know exactly what Sprint is going to do with the iDEN network. People who know don't tell and people who tell don't know.

And again, with the way Sprint has been in the past, the last thing that they are going to do is accept a phone that will not work with the network? Sprint's whole motivation right now is to stop pissing people off. They have given more power to folks in store to please customers so why release this PDA that they "know" will fail and counteract all of that? And you can't say typical Sprint because I'm sorry, you got a new guy in there running it.

Who said anything about "ground agents"? Don't worry, I wouldn't post anything just to appear like I know something, or to start what's appeared to be called a "flame war". And also, the purpose of my post was to try to get some more input on what I originally stated, not to reply to many people trying to "disprove" what I said.

There probably won't be a way to test my Sprint info, but just wait and see if verizon will even release the 800w...then we can comment on who to believe.

It might not make a difference if Verizon is going to sell Treo 800w or not. There could be an agreement between Sprint and Palm for Treo 800w to be sold by Sprint only for several months. It happened in the past with other Treo models.

Treo 800w for other carriers will have fewer problems, since most of the problems will be fixed on Sprint Treo 800w first.

I know. We'll see how everything works out. Thank you for your input.
