Sprint to Launch Baltimore WiMax Network In September

Personally think this might save the company

Being someone who lives between Baltimore and DC, I'm excited to hear this. I'm not the biggest fan of the iPhone (but am an Apple fan in general), but the iPhone really allowed people to start embracing data and the web on their phones.

If Sprint takes data speeds to the next level and the networks opens up so new devices can come on and access this network, I think Sprint could be in good shape.

Data really is something that's important to many, many more people than it was as of - a year ago?

I agree. What i believe is going to happen is Sprint is going to be seen as more than just a cell phone company but as as full fledged broadband /data provider.

Sprint is saying that the system will be open. Anybody with a compatible device can use thier service. With intel making the chips i guarantee that there will a a whole slew of devices incorporating wimax tech. As a previous article mentioned (can't think of the source right now) being able to upload your pictures from your digital camera/slr/camcorder to your home computer or print shop directly from your device.. from anywhere within service range. Wimax built into car stereo/navigation systems... home appliances.. not just cell phones.
