Taking to my sick bed

When I call Alltel's 800 number, the greeting is how Alltel is the country's largest wireless company/carrier.

So why is the largest cell phone company being bought by Verizon?? ๐Ÿคจ

I used to feel so lucky that I had Alltel service and not Verizon. Not me, no siree. I'm staying with the best.

I'm sick. ๐Ÿ˜ข ๐Ÿ˜ก ๐Ÿ˜ข ๐Ÿ˜ข

I'm mad at Alltel. How dare they let themselves be bought out by an inferior operation.

And yes, I do feel that way.

Maybe you are miss hearing it. Not sure. It states Welcome to Alltel, bring to you Americas Largest Network. (Meaning tower wise.)

What is being brought to the table? Well Alltel is bring the network and Verizon is bring their technology (which I don't think anyone would disagree, well maybe a small amount) that Verizon has the best technology vs all other carriers.

If you are looking for the best, wait until the merger has been complete and then decide for yourself. If you are in a rural area like myself, you should not experience anything bad but good.

Alltel does not own the most towers but they do utilize the most towers.

CDMA carriers have roaming agreements with eachother allowing for widespread coverage. With Verizon purchasing Alltel, coverage is going to get better in the areas in which Verizon was NOT utilizing tower agreements with Alltel. If you saw Alltel coverage W/O roaming, it would make Alltel look like cricket.(over exaggeration)

My 2 cents:

Verizon is clearly not purchasing Alltel primarily for the customer base; they are a small player number wise in the industry. Having said that, they cover a lot of rural areas where VZW pays to roam.

As far as the my circle goes, Verizon will most likely offer Alltel clients to stay on their current plan until their contract is up, but rumor has it that my circle will go away. Verizon has the best customer service, great phones, and an awesome network. They pay for their customers to roam around and with the buyout they won't have to pay nearly as much for roaming, and (from what I understand) they will be able to dedicate certain frequencies to data only, increasing speed and capacity.
