Here's the full text of the press release sent to us by T-Mobile. Data isn't mentioned anywhere:

Continuing its efforts to give families the freedom to stay connected on their terms, T-Mobile USA, Inc. announced a new unlimited family plan that meets the wide array of communication needs for parents and young adults alike. An unlimited plan created especially for families, T-Mobile now offers unlimited nationwide calling (with nationwide roaming and long distance) and unlimited nationwide text, picture and instant messaging (SMS, MMS and IM), for a flat rate of $49.99 monthly access* for each line added after the first line.

To take advantage of this plan, new and existing T-Mobile customers would subscribe to the first line for $99.99...

burn. You remind me of those reps who advertise 'all the good stuff' and once the customer gets their bill, they almost have a heart attack cuz they were under the impression 'all the good stuff' was included.

Unlimited SMS, MMS, and IM is good though.

Are there really people really crying about data not being included? Seriously?? Get the sand out of your gina! 😲

If data isn't included the customer can't use it, ergo they won't be charged for it.

What's the big deal? All of the other carriers charge more than this, a lot more, for the same thing and the only one that includes data is Sprint (at least as far as I know) and Sprint is still more expensive.

WHAT??? 😲 😳 😲 😳 😲 😳 😲 😳
how naive can you get?????

if it isn't included they can't use it.

go take a poll of every CSR, retail employee and anyone else who deals with a carrier's customers on a daily basis and ask them how often the get a user that has casual data charged to their bill, and b!tches about it because they "didn't know they would be charged for it if they didn't ask for the data package"? probably every single one.

please compe back to reality, I'...

Why would you expect that?

Everyone else is still charging $99.99 per line, and Sprint is the only one that offers unlimited data included for that price.

Even if you have 2 smartphones on T-Mobile it is still going to come out to $10 less per month than Sprint, and if you have 3 lines, it will be $40 cheaper per month.

Everyone else also has a larger network (except Sprint which is similar)

UMA is much less expensive than going this route

True, UMA is much less expensive, but it is being marketed more as a home phone replacement. The unlimited plan is being marketed to people that are on the go more.

Some people want to make unlimited calls anywhere they go, not just when they are around a WIFI signal, and for them, $99.99 for the first line and $49.99 for each additional line is a very good deal.

You are wrong about Sprint's network. Sprint's network is the largest in the US. That's right the largest. T-Mobile's is the smallest. Check out the facts. I do agree T-Mobile is a much more customer friendly company but Sprint's footprint is much larger than T-Mobile's.

My buddy is always bragging about the size of his network. I think he's just trying to compensate for other things though...

To bad you are looking at it that way, T-Mobile may have a smaller network but it has better call quality and clarity. Let me see that is why everyone is leaving sprint.
