in my opinion, there's pretty much nothing any one can do to compete with the iphone. no other company is willing to dump that much money into advertising, and if they are, they probably don't have the means necessary. all of these companies are trying to produce touch-screen phones and they don't realize that it's just another futile attempt at de-throning apple. if a company wants to compete, they need to think of something new because copying apple just is not going to cut it.

whoa easy hot shot, all i'm saying is that people are not going to accept another touch screen phone unless all of the companies $ gets dumped into advertising thus creating more "fanboys" as you so eliquently put it. personally i don't even have the iphone, i'm perfactly happy with my blackjack.

My suspicion is that there are many people who like things about the iphone (its elegance media functions etc..) but dont want to switch to at@t will accept it just fine. As will people who like touchscreens and the functionality of windows mobile not to mention those who surf the web a lot and really like having a decent connection speed. It may not be quite the market force of the iphone, but thats not always the best reason to buy or discuss a phone is it? besides, some of us like haveing a phone that makes other people say "cool, what is that?!!!" we like being unique, not followers.. etc.
