Uh, Sprint was #53 on the 2007 Fortune 500 List. They'll still be around, my friend.

Your pessimism needs to face reality.

He's right, Sprint potentially has many years of withering before being acquired or broken into pieces and sold.

Ford and GM are major automakers that sell millions of vehicles every month, but they are both having their share of troubles. Sprint's size does not make it immune to problems.

AT&T Wireless, once the nation's largest wireless carrier, was put on the auction block after its management ran it into the ground. Come to think of it, Sprint is following the same path that AT&T Wireless had. Remember AT&T Wireless's plan to roll out GSM and UMTS? It's a lot like Sprint's plan to roll out WiMax. And the customer serv...

Yeah, you should change that to "Nuffin Said." Until you add in some thing else as a comparison, it is nuffin.

Like 34.7 billion in revenue.... that's cool and all, but not if their expenses are 50 bill (using the number as an example).

In response to AT&T... ummm arent they doing ok now? So whats to say Sprint wont (since theyre supposidly following the same track). Also with like 5-7 Q-Chat w/ REV-A rolling out; the Curve and Instinct shortly paired w/ the best Unlimited plan & Hesse's commitment to help customer service (which it has; check the surveys our reputation has gotten better w/ care lately)... + We will roll out WiMax... by the end of 08' Sprints network will be by far the best.. if it isnt already since its a FACT that dropped calls are w/in 1% of all the top 3 carriers so there really isnt a difference... so what sets all of us apart? What you can do with the phone you have and the data.. who OWNS that? Sprint.

Yep... It's ridiculous how people can't give Sprint ANY credit even though they do a lot of things right. There is now a new push happening where store employees will be empowered to fix accounts and give credits when needed and not pushing customers to care to resolve. That and with the new unlimited plan and customer service improvements, Sprint can right itself pretty quickly. Dumb, stubborn fan-boys of other carriers aside, people will notice this quickly and have already with some of the latest CS surveys.

The company of AT&T Wireless, with the stock ticker of AWE, went out of business in 2004. The stockholders received a cash payment of $15 per share from Cingular Wireless, LLC which acquired the failing company. Cingular Wireless, LLC was a joint venture of SBC Communications, Inc. and BellSouth. SBC Communications bought Ma Bell, AT&T, and at that time, SBC Communications changed its name to AT&T. The new AT&T (formerly SBC Communications) then bought BellSouth, the other company that owned part of Cingular Wireless LLC. With that acquisition, BellSouth was now part of AT&T, and Cingular Wireless, LLC was a wholly owned subsidiary...

I don't hold much on that. Sprint has too much on its plate trying to keep the subscribers it already has, trying to recoup the losses from the failed Nextel acquisition, and trying to bring customer service and brand reputation up to break-even levels (they certainly can't WOW! customers.)

Sprint's partnerships seems to dissolving left and right, MVNOs constantly going out of business, and WiMax plans seem to be delayed. Don't hold your breath on WiMax, there's a good possibility that it's not going to live up to its expectations.

Sprint has 53.8 million customers. Sprint's revenue is 34.7 billion dollars.
SO...... Sprint is going out of business and losing customers?
Guess what! Sprint would have to lose 41.5 million customers to have the same customer base as Altell ๐Ÿ˜ณ

If this had been an article about Verizon or AT&T losing the same, nobody would even care. Because it's Sprint, everyone loves to yell "sinking ship" due to their ongoing struggles.

I think it's a GOOD thing myself. I DESPISE cable TV. Who even has it anymore? Satellite is cheaper and the internet is way more interesting. Cable TV is about as cool as parachute pants and acid wash jeans! ๐Ÿคฃ

Its not about size... it's all profitablity.

Also, isn't Virgin Mobile still losing money? Thats great if JD Power says they're the best pre-paid provider, but none of them have been able to make any serious profit. Investors are pissed at Virgin arn't they?

That is why I also said in that post that sprint's revenue was 34.7 billion.

And who cares about Virgin? They are prepaid and have nothing to do with sprint other than using our network.

You're not getting the point. Revenue is pretty useless unless its linked to expenses. They're getting 34.7 billion, but how much are they spending?

I only brought up Virgin because someone else had brought up MVNOs.

I'm not saying it's totally Sprint's fault that the MVNOs are failing, but MVNOs are easy revenue streams without much work, and those very profitable revenue streams aren't flowing as expected.

Well since the rest of the world decided to go LTE for 4g technology, It looks as though Sprint is heading for a dead end again with Wimax. But don't take my word for it, Fortune Magazine named Sprint one of the top 5 "losers" for 2007, loosing a record 29.5 billion dollars in revenue in 2007:

http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2008/fortune/0804/gal ... »

Good luck there Mr Hesse. Good news is Sprint stock is a bargain at a whopping $6 a share! Sprints doomed. AT&T and Verizon smell blood and are stealing Sprints customers faster than they can add them on, its totally reminiscent of the AT&T Wireless collapse of 2004.
