I live in the middle of Mesa and cant get a 3g signal in my house and only intermintent 3g outside. ATTs 3g network is barebones at best in Phoenix/Mesa/Tempe right now, I think its operating on at about 1/2 of thier cell sites. If only nokia made the N95 for Verizon id leave att in a heartbeat. I would rate ATT 4th best in the Valley behing VZ,Sprint, and Alltel for 3g service, only because Tmobile doesnt have 3g yet.

Things are improving slowly, I guess. I've noticed that I now maintain an HSPA connection all the time while in downtown Seattle, while even just a month ago my phone would only hold HSPA while actually using it. (It would revert back to 3G, meaning UMTS, after closing the HSPA connection.)

Hopefully they'll get you upgraded in Mesa soon, too!

VZW has Rev A all the way in Queen Creek and Apache Junction, not to mention a hundred other non PHX metro towns in AZ that AT&T doesn't offer 3G in.
