😢 I was hoping Google would win the C-block. They would deserve it. I have Verizon and I can't stand they're greedy business model and lame service/devices. At least Google would've started a nice open network with uncrippled handsets. Well I do work for T-Mobile as an RSR so I'm going to be getting super cheap phone service. Blackberry Curve 8320 here I come. I still love you Google!

Neither did Verizon, but that didn't stop them. Sprint may have lost 30 billion, but it was mostly a write off... Verizon is operating in debt from the Vodaphone buy and will continue to do so as long as Voda continues to hold a majority share of stock.

🤨 Show us quarterly reports that state that VZW is in debt. Everyone knows that VZW is the most profitable cell carrier. Not because their greedy but because they are always ranked at or near the top of the field when it comes to service. The reason for that is that they dump more money into their network than every other carrier and some of them combined. VZW had the money for sure with plenty to spare. I'm on the front lines and let me tell you from first hand knowledge that Sprint is done, it's only a matter of time. Sprints merger with Nextel will go done as one of the dumbest financial moves in history.

Then there's the SMR spectrum that's currently used for iDEN, but can be re-deployed for something else in the future (CDMA or WiMAX)
...and finally you have all of the 2.5 GHz spectrum that they're in the process of deploying WiMAX in.
When you add it all up, it's a lot.

Answers my question but raises others, like why they continue to make phones that operate on iDEN and their CDMA networks, when they are going to make this single platform, and how they are going to transition into it. Will they require every phone made to have an iDEN, CDMA, and WiMax radio on them? What about global phones? Throw in a SIM card slot, and you've got a pretty powerful phone, but fairly expensive too. And will they phase old technology out by giving customers incentives or just shut old systems down l...

There are no new iDEN phones slated to come out, and CDMA new devices have slowed down to next to nothing, all we've been getting since January are revisions of old phones (BlackjackII = ACE, Green Rumor, M520). Qchat is set to launch toward the end of the 2nd Quarter and there are already 3 phones on deck waiting, 2 from Sanyo and 1 from Samsung. Theyre not the most stylish devices, but that should answer your question as to where we are going with phone models and platforms. Qchat operates primarily from the CDMA platform and is said to hit the market backward compatible with Nextel's PTT.
