Openweb transcoding replaces the user agent with it's own version. The user agent is the only way for wap sites to identify a particular phone. This means the wrong ringtones and wallpaper will be sent to your phone.
Sprint has imposed this on users with no opt out! There has already been reported problems at Rumkin.com and FunForMobile.com

Sprint is going to be gone in 18-22 months anyway - dont worry about it.
Oh, and Helio, too - and anyone else using their network as an MVNO.
...
dont you wish you knew what you were talking about mr. oracle of the future..
...
i know. I bet sprint outlasts them all....or just sticks around for awhile.
one or two media stories and everyone puts Sprint to death. Have you used their network? It's great. If anything, they'll be sold to another carrier. They're still doing well. Sheesh.

newsflash captain chucko, they lost $30 billion dollars last year...
...
Most of that 30b was a write-off as a result of the merger..... If you actually read the article, you wouldn't sound stupid right now.
...
yeah, profit loss is based on what they projected to do, and what they actually did.
Here's a bit of a "business" lesson: to get a break on taxes, you can say that you "lost" X amount because you didn't make as much as you projected for the quarter. It's stupid, but that's what happens.
I'm not saying Sprint didn't loose customers, they did, but so did everyone to AT&T when the iPhone came out.
Honestly, however, Sprint is having a hard time, but they're not that bad off. Media hyped it more than it was really worth as a news story.

In 18-22 months, tiny space aliens, disguised as copies of "The King of Queens: Season Three" DVD's launch an insurrection against the US government from several forward bases of operations--Wal Mart, K-Mart, Target...
In 18-22 months, in a move that surprises even Alan Greenspan, the Federal Reserve announces that they are abolishing the typical paper and coin money we are used to, and switching to a new medium--packing peanuts. Instantly, everyone becomes a millionaire.
In 18-22 months, the newly elected President of the United States agrees to unilateral peace talks with the remnants of the Taliban regime. That President: Hugh Hefner.

Another prediction: Sprint may spin-off Nextel, just to stay profitable.
You guys think just because their network is "great" that this will keep them afloat? Give it a rest.
Why do you think they went from unlimited $119/month to $99/month? They need to KEEP their subscribers.
Helio is also doing lousy - who is their network? SPRINT. Who also has a $99 unlimited plan.
Only the regionals will go lower - Sprint is patheticly going down the tubes unfortunately.

Sprint is doing absolutely horrible - they have actually managed to lose more money than they are worth since thir aquisition of Nextel. There is also a rumor that T-Mobile may buy Sprint to avoid a price war, and being how bad they are doing (Sprint) the price would be worth it alone.
Mark my words and this thread - 18-22 months. If not sooner.

Yah, they said the same thing about Embarq, and now it trades higher than AT&T or Verizon...Hmm, who was the CEO that made that happen? Oh yeah, Dan Hesse, wait a minute, that's Sprints CEO now. Don't count Sprint out just yet my friend.
...
Isnt a open format what everyones been crying for and someone finally starts to do it and all you can do is complain. When Sprint fixes the customer service issues they will be back to challenging at&t and verizon
