What's wrong with wireless carriers, that they can't understand that their customers actually care about technology and would like to see improved service?

I have no idea what's wrong with them. ...to be fair, though, I'd prefer wifi phones that made calls over my wireless network. :-)

isnt' that what T-mobile did with Hotspot at Home? it uses router and transmits calls through wi-fi! it was design to make reception stronger at homes! 😁

Yes! That's exactly what I want - only I also want the cell coverage Verizon has along with it. :-)

I like TMobile. I generally advise people where I live to get either Verizon or TMobile (At&t sucks here in Minneapolis MN, and I've only heard so-so things about Sprint.) But TMobile...isn't exactly known for it's huge coverage area. :-) It works good where it works, but not at, say, my grandmothers house in a small town in Iowa.

Yeah, but it makes a free unlimited call on ANY WIFI signal! WAHOO! set up wifi in your grandma's house.

But yeah, this should be the future of cell companies. Offer free wifi calling. Then, when a wifi network becomes larger than cell phone towers can cover, we (the consumer) win!

I hope.

Actually Sprint is using FemtooCell except the device is provided by Samsung. The service is called Airave and right now is still in test phase in Denver and Indiannapolis market.

What I like about Sprint Airave is you don't have to use a special phone while with TMobile Hotspot at Home you have to buy a special phone. The downside of Airave is it won't work outside of your house, such as a public wi-fi spot or starbucks.

I have used the Airwave and it has a distance of about 5000 sq feet. So if you dont have a huge house, you can walk outside the house and use it.

Try walk further. The call will drop instead of switching to Sprint's public network. At least that was what happened to me.

Your right but all you would have to do is end your call and then recall when you ready to talk again. How is Tmobile set up to do?

From what I heard (I'm a sprint user), TMobile's calls are handed over automatically from wi-fi to cellular network. People say it works very well and the call remains free as long as it was initiated in a hot spot.

Sprint may purposely set it up the other way so you have to pay when you use the cellular network.🙂

YOU'RE KIDDING ME! Hotspot wifi calling is free when you leave if it was initiated in the wifi area? T-Mobile DOES have some sweet things going for the company right now. They need the iPhone to kill AT&T's market. Oh, and a billion more towers.

I like T-Mobile, but not going with it just yet.

And a 3G network! 🙂

yah, if you're into that kinda thing.

not having 3G would only bother me if I had the iPHone. Any other phone I could care less how fast it works.

I'm on sprint, and it's fast, and I'm not even in an EVDO area.
