4G is here. heard alot about this and very excited to see it in motion. Also adding 3G to the top 100 cities that do not already have it. Very Happy

4G isn't even defined yet... HSDPA and HSUPA are more like 3.5 G.

4G will not be here until at least 2010, even in Japan-they are always first.

It will be up and running in about 2010 but the technology is being tested this year.

As posted previously, 4G has not been officially defined. Per 3GPP, LTE does NOT qualify as an official 4G technology. This is a common mistake made, even by phonescoop administrators. As stated by 3GPP, a true 4G network would support downlink speeds upwards of 1GB and extensive interface with fixed IP systems. Nothing official at this point though so that could change.

I think that LTE is more correctly referred to as "pre-4G" because the standards board hasn't actually defined what is required to qualify as 4G.

There are a couple of other options being proposed as well.

I just thought people are saying we will be moving to LTE next. Whether it's 4G, pre-4G, 3.75G, whatever.
