I completely agree. Carriers should have left it at .10 outgoing and .02 incoming. Now they will have to sink thousands to create systems for their pay per usage.

I personally would love to see a CAL that requires carriers to give free incoming texts.

No, that's what the carriers get for failing to take care of their customers by allowing them to block texting (ATT and VZW do this), block all but administrative/free texts (ATT), or block texting from emails and premium sms (VZW, not sure if ATT does).

A law isn't necessary. If ATT can allow customers to block all but administrative texts, than VZW and Tmob can too. If VZW can block premium sms, than so can the rest of the carriers. By the time a law is enacted, the vast majority of the carriers will have enacted better means of preventing unwanted texts.

A judgement in which other lawsuits can reference. It's an unfair business practice. I hated the fact of spam getting into texts but it was inevitable. I think this lawsuit will not only confront the blocking issue, but maybe getting the free incoming texts for all carriers.
