I agree! i can't wait to get my hands on 3G service from T-mobile. The issues i have are that the phone's screen looks really small... not cool for 3G. Also can we get at least an upgrade to a 2mp camera? It just looks a little like an old, bulky, outdated slider.

Big.Friggin.Deal. T-Mobile really dosnt have a "go to phone". Every other comapny has a device that is exclusive - OH, the Sidekick, right. The most advanced prehistoric phone on the planet. Their "go to phone" is so great. it has been on their roster for over 5 years now, yet has not strayed from its original design or concept of connectivity. T-Mobile, the network with nearly 10,000 WiFi hotspots cant find it in their hearts to convince those who design and manufacture they great devices to actually include them in their alleged flagship product. Verizon has the Voyager, ATT has the iPhone, Sprint has... well, Sprint stuff. ;) T-Mobile either has to start spending the money to grow and get some othe rexclusivity deals, or risk being swall...

Not true at all. I've sold many sidekicks and they are great phones and they have changed drastically since the first one. Fist, they're much smaller. They now have music players. The LX's screen is one of the best looking screens in the business and they are by far the easiest phone to type on and don't even get me started on instant messaging.

Acessing the internet on it is the closest thing you can get to a computer without having a laptop...

Then ther's the trackball, games, email...

Don't underestimate the sidekick.

I agree to an extent, although I feel the new "go to phone" is going to be the Shadow. Definately a step up from the sidekick.

The shadow is a windows mobile device and I really don't see it as being this "go to" device that most people see, especially since it's developed by HTC, a company that loves to sale it's phones "exclusively" to different carriers under differnt names.

Yeah, that is a good point, the only reason I would consider it a "go to" phone is because of the user interface, (shadow users call it the NEO interface) it was developed in partnership with T-mobile, HTC, and Windows Mobile.

Nokia has always focused, IMO, features over form and in my experience American consumers care more about form than features. Look at the Razr. That being said, Nokias sell very well here because I sell them ;). (jk, I'm not that egotistical, but I do like to reccomend Nokias)...

Bulky? Not really, unless you call the Razr bulky, because it's about the same size, I am currently holding both in my hands. It is a little heavier but it's got way more features packed in it, I would expect it to be a bit heavier.

Its a nice little phone. At first I wasn't sure about the brown but that is the most popular color that I have been selling in the last few months. As for the camera who cares if its 2mp. The difference in picture quality between 1.3 and 2 is so small that most people would not be able to tell. So why not save a some money and make the phone cheaper for customers.

As for Tmobile not having a "go to phone". The sidekick is still popular as it was when it first came out. The slide is doing really well and the lx has one of the nicest screens I have ever seen. I have had customers on several occasions switch to Tmobile from att to get rid of their iphones to get the sidekick. So yeah the sidekick will be around for a long time.

😎 Is it just me or does anybody else find it goofy that T-Mobile would start selling 3G phones before firing up their long overdue 3G network? They're very misleading to customers and basically fronting like the 3G capability of the phones is actually usable at this time. I would like to see a Motorola added as an exclusive "go to phone" for T-Mobile. Look what it did when the RAZR came out, it was like electronic crack...everyone had to get it. Today the RAZR is still a hot phone. Look at the MOTORAZR V3xx for AT&T wireless. As far as the iphone. It's over priced and shackled. Imagine the things the iphone could do...but Mr. Jobs believes putting a leash on the device makes people more enthused than letting them tinker and unlock it to th...

@psycho dramatic-
Let me let you in on a little secret. About 99.99% of people do not know that you have to have a 3G network as well as a 3G phone.

Yes this is very true...that's part of the problem. People do NOT care. That is why the carriers tyranny I.E Verizon Wireless will never end. They thrive on the ignorance and laziness of the average consumer. Like lambs to the slaughter. 🤨

It makes more sense to have an established customer base in regards to 3G handsets rather than launching the network and the handsets at the same time plus T-Mobile has not said the 3G network capable handsets are able to use said network at anytime. I would imagine most carriers follow this business practice as much as possible. And there's actually a disclaimer that states T-Mobile is not commenting on when the network will be available. I hope this clears it up for you.

It doesn't matter, why advertise that the phones are 3G compliant? That should be kept under raps until a 3G network is deployed unless....it's just another typical sales gimmick. Hmmm, just like corporate America trying to get over on the consumer. My point is....DONT ADVERTISE SOMETHING OR SELL IT FOR SO MUCH IF OR "IT ISN'T READY TO DO" WHAT THE CARRIER SAYS IT CAN DO!! That's as stupid as slapping a "V-TEC" decal on a 85' Honda Civic when last I remembered V-TEC didn't even exist back then. Then imagine Honda saying "oh yea well it's not in the engines now but 10 years from now it can be. Who the hell cares, don't be such a tool!!! 😈

I'm a tool because I describe a possible explanation for why a company does something? Why do you care so much? Get a life. Companies are going to continue doing stuff like this whether you like it or not. This was just a friendly discussion last time I checked, not some name calling session.

T-Mobile is not advertising their 3G phones. They actually have a disclaimer to all their employees that states to not sell that feature.

"The Samsung t819 should be pro actively positioned as a standard handset in T-Mobile’s line up without any reference to UMTS. If customers ask specific questions relating to the handset’s UMTS capabilities, the following information can be used reactively, as appropriate.

UMTS is a 3G technology which builds upon T-Mobile's current GSM network. Initially T-Mobile will be utilizing this network for voice capabilities.
T-Mobile is selling the Samsung t819, which will operate on both the GSM and UMTS networks, in anticipation of the availability of our UMTS network. The phone will automat...

Well who's gonna stop employee's still talking about it... It does come off as a good selling point, so a lot of people are going to use it, even though their not suppose to unless the customers brings it up. It like T-Mobile Reps are not suppose to tell iPhone users they can use it on T-Mobile's network. Still happens.
