I have ATT and when I call with a problem I get an American so there are no problems with communicating. Does Verizon outsource?

I have been with Verizon for the last year or so, and when I have called, I have had no problems with understanding the customer service personnel. I have talked with people in the Knoxville and Omaha calling centers. 🙂

My wife and I work at a Contractor site for Sprint CS here in the states and we make about $12/hr. MY wife is from the Phillipeans though and her sister ended up getting a job at one of our contractor's call centers over there that handles our Telesales dept and they get paid $500/month and people fight over the job because thats good money over there.

Wireless carriers are not the only companies that outsource. Think about it like this, these big companies are about saving as much money as they can so they figure by saving a bit of cash why pay Americans who want more than $10 bux an hour to work when I can have people from India working for $6.50? If you were the CEO which would you chose, you wouldn't look at the realistic point of it you would look into whats going on at the moment. We all know the higher management of these companies don't care about the consumer because they don't deal with them directly only time they care is if their 6figures arent rolling in. Honestly I think it's a shame the companies are turning their backs on their own people as Americans with the economy so sc...

Verizon Wireless does outsource, but not overseas. They have outsource centers for every region in the country- some departments for customer service, spanish customer service, marketing, and technical support.

It's something of an overstatement to suggest that outsourcing means you'll be talking to someone in India. AT&T DOES outsource, but most of its third-party call centers are either still located in the US, or in Canada (so a lot of these Americans who fix your problems are probably Canucks).

Back in the days of AT&T Wireless, many warranty centers used to be through India, but that was discontinued. It had rather mixed results. I figure that the reps were alright. I rarely had any problem understanding them. They were a little rigid, but frankly, I think that th...

Every company outsorces. Verizon does it with PRC. ATT uses Convergys. Virgin uses ITC. And the list goes on. Outsourcing doesn't exactly mean that you will be getting someone in India. You will very likely get someone in the good ole USA. They have mortgages and live the american "dream" like everyone else.

Just because you are an outsourced agent does not mean you can't handle customer service as good if not better than any official CSR. and T-mobile does outsource.

I was a CSR at an outsourced center on the Cingular project in San Antonio, TX, I'm a white male, well spoken, from Dallas... I was the best CSR on the project quality wise, to the point where when cingular would grade my calls (seperate from the call center standards) I would do better than the bulk of the CSR's that were officially Cingular. I knew the information inside and out and would regularly take calls for supervisors, and resolve all my issues.

The point of this is not to brag, it is to show your ignorance of the issue, just because someone is working at an outsou...

Ignorance? Oh please

We're following the term the companies has used.
Why do some people use the word ignorance so freely, it's great you were known as a great CSR but instead of calling people ignorant first explain let people know the deal and if they still don't get it THEN that's ignorance.

Thanks Mr. CSR

The ignorance lies in the fact that most of the people posts assume that they are talking to someone foreign just because it is outsourced, or that they are any less helpful or knowledgeable, that is ignorance. It was explained pretty extensively.

The other ignorant statement, I was really referring to was the one about T-mobile not outsourcing. So please before you try to get on me about using a word, please read all the posts and make sure you really know what is going on.

Thanks Mizz Sprint

By the way you did not spell Miss right...
