Under his leadership, AT&T Wireless became the nation’s largest carrier at the time and grew revenues three times faster than the rate of the industry.
I think it was Engadget where I read he was CEO from like 1997 - 2000, at AT&T Wireless's prime.
When Hesse headed the same company, AT&T Wireless held the largest chunk of market share in North America. This was of course, back in the day when they were organically number one ahead of the likes of Bell Atlantic, Sprint and Voicestream.
WHat you can count on from Mr. Hesse is that he will leverage the strengths of the company and turn around the marketing.
Competing against a Hesse led ATTWS was hell. Most of you did not have to do that. They were innovative and had price plans that were tough to beat. All of that with a crappy IS-136 TDMA network and only 30MHZ to use. Give him Sprint's network and bandwidth to leverage off of and who knows what he will do.
