The 850 & 1900 bands are used in North America. As for the AWS band, the 2100 downlink is the same as Europe, but because they use 1900 with the 2100 band, North America couldn't use that same band, since we use it for PCS service. So the 1700 band was paired up with 2100 instead. So AT&T doesn't use the 1800 band here, as as I explained already, 2100 is paired with 1700 here, while 2100 is paired with 1900 in Europe. They are required to do something with their AWS spectrum eventually or they'll lose it, (per FCC rules,) but without a nationwide footprint, I assume it will only be something supplemental to other bands in use.
