AWS Spectrum for AT&T

Does AT&T have any plans for 3G in the AWS spectrum? It would allow greater roaming for them in the Americas. How many other countries use 850/1900 for 3G?

From what I know T-Mo owns most all the 1700mhz spectrum in the US. They might be able to roam on it from T-Mo. I was under the impression that T-Mo was planning on roaming on the 1800 and 2100 from ATT in the US.

The 850 & 1900 bands are used in North America. As for the AWS band, the 2100 downlink is the same as Europe, but because they use 1900 with the 2100 band, North America couldn't use that same band, since we use it for PCS service. So the 1700 band was paired up with 2100 instead. So AT&T doesn't use the 1800 band here, as as I explained already, 2100 is paired with 1700 here, while 2100 is paired with 1900 in Europe. AT&T only owns AWS spectrum in the West and scattered areas in the East:

They are required to do something with their AWS spectrum eventually or they'll lose it, (per FCC rules,) but without a nationwide footprint, I assume it will only be something supplemental to other bands in use.
