Change in Terms?

Is this considered a change of TOS and now they have to let people out of their contracts without penalty? If it is, they just keep shooting themselves in the foot. Let the bleeding continue!

I highly doubt this constitutes a change in TOS. Anyway, it looks like it'll reduce my bill by just over $1/month, so whatever.

I wish it was a change in TOS so I can bail out before the ship sinks. Sprint needs to get their billing department in order, I have not had a correct bill since 4 years ago

According to this Sprint Call Center rep, customers in contract can cancel with no ETF

Yeah I heard you can gripe and get out of contract. Funny, because like I said, my bills should go down. Also, I've never had any issues with billing through Sprint, but I feel your pain...billing issues are a scourge on all service providers...it shouldn't be that hard.

I called Sprint Call Center and they would NOT let me cancel with a fee being assest which came to 600.00 for 3 phones. Sprint also promised me unlimited text for 10.00 and has been charging me 15.00 and WON'T reimburse me or reduce it.

Reimburse? You had the old text plan probably with the free & clear plan or fair & flex minutes plan: charge for unlimited text $15. You want $10 for unlimited text, get current power pack plans. You have p pack plan and paying $15 for unlimited text: complain. But statement on bills say if you have issue with bill, notifiy Sprint. 2-3 mths is most they will credit. Unless you get a "good" customer care rep.

If Sprint's retention people are anything like AOL and Verizon's, they will tell you just about anything to keep you subscribed to their service regardless.

Both Verizon and Sprint have done this exact same thing when there were material changes (much like I believe now) in the past.

I'd even wager the representative you spoke to had no idea what you were even talking about - and consequently, probably assumed you were lying or a scammer (if the representatives here are any indicator).

This does not constitute a change in the TOS. A change in the TOS would only be about the ETF, Activation fees, or they add/remove an important part of the current TOS. Sprint's TOS only includes information about the amount of time for term of use, ETF, lawyer mumbo-jumbo about arbitration, and activation fees. These are so called state/fed taxes that they are changing the way they bill.

These new fees are not taxes, and aren't required to be collected by Sprint.

It stands to reason if you sign a contract agreeing to pay one set of fees and later the contract is revised to change those fees - it is a revision requiring mutual consent.

But if you actually read my comment you would see that I pointed out that these items are not included in your contract with sprint. If you don't believe, find someone with a sprint contract and it doesn't say anything about your bill in it except about activation fees. Most of the cell phone companies that I've worked for never combine those two things due to having to change them so frequently. Same goes for your service agreement with a Cable company.

Only if the new fee's cause your monthly bill to be HIGHER than it is due to the taxes/fee's/surcharges change, will you be allowed to void out of your contract...

with 95% of most customers seeing a small bill decrease, and taxes/surcharges/fee's section being simplified, I would say that this isn't that bad of a move by Sprint...

People are so hyped up to bash Sprint, they never really look at the major things which in this instance are:

* Bill will probably be lower
* More simplified taxes/...
