cricket/leap wireless should jump on the band wagon.

If they roll out 3G, they may become a viable option to ATT or VZW in these areas.

yeah but whats the use of 3g without a useful device to take advantage of it; referring to the metropcs lineup of handsets...

Well if anything, some sort of unlimited data plan (that's cheaper than the majors) on a more open network than VZW or Sprint would make things more attractive. It would be neat to see these smaller carriers really push the open network business. I remember only a few years ago laughing at the prospect of a Metro or Leap becoming a serious contender. My how times have changed. 😁

Isn't Leap aka Cricket fixin' to bid on block C. And Didn't Metro want to merge with Leap as well.

Course if you if you have ever seen where a Metro store is located around these parts, you would know where it gets its local nick name.

Could somebody please explain to me what the C block is? I'm well aware of what the A and B cellular blocks are but what is this C block?

C block is a good chunk of 700mhz spectrum, i believe 22mhz total, which is being auctioned off in january. minumun bid is 4.6 billion.

So the "C Block" is going to be an entirely new block created for the 700 MHz auction? So in reality, it isn't really a cellular block, or are they going to refer to 700 MHz as cellular?

the 700 mhz was previuously used by those sucky channels on TV. They cleared a good portion of it for cellular

Well I knew that much: that it is currently being used by analog TV stations.

But I was just wondering if they were calling 700 MHz "cellular" since the 850 MHz band has usually been long called cellular.

any band can be cellular.

each band has its own unique characteristics. 700mhz is good for indoor coverage
