AT&T & CELLULAR ONE ACQUISITION (RATES)

Friends of mine within AT&T says that the Dobson Cellular One rate plans will be going away for Cellular One subscribers after their contracts ends, however the $99.99 UNLIMITED RATE PLAN will still be honored month-to-month after a customer's $99.95 contract ends. This is due because AT&T Wireless a few years ago marketed the AT&T WIRELESS ONERATE plan which was $99.99 per month, and AT&T still has this rate plan in their internal billing whereby they will honor this rate I'm told. AT&T Wireless tried to terminate the $99.99 ONE RATE PLAN years ago but customers complained and threatened to just leave AT&T, thus reason AT&T kept the rate plan.

Yeah, I agree. I really hate seeing Cellular One sell out to AT&T, and thought the FCC might rule against it. Seems Judge Green's decision in the 90's breaking up the AT&T monopoly didn't work too well, as AT&T is back gobbling up small companies and becoming a MONOPOLY again. Pretty soon T-Mobile and other GSM Carriers will get acquired and there will be no competition. I think all the Wireless Carriers need to be regulated by the government these days as there is too much price-fixing and anti-trust deals happening out there these days.

Just like "Terminator 2: Judgment Day":

The (AT&)T-1000 gets blown to bits after being frozen (breaking up the monopoly), then, the heat thaws all the pieces and the (AT&)T-1000 re-forms (gobbling up its competitors).

It's not the galactic empire, as the logo has been compared to the Death Star, but it is a competition terminator!!!

you aren't very intelligent. how are they becoming a monopoly? if you don't like at&t there are at least 3 other wireless carriers in each area to go to. it's too much competition that has cause such crappy service from all the carriers to date. if it wasn't for so much regulation and there was only 2 or 3 carriers for the whole country all the carriers would have to service their area better.

I think you are the one that lacks intelligence. Competition is GOOD for business. It creates the need for businesses to "one up" their competition leading to lower costs and better service. While AT&T is not currently a monopoly, what the previous post was saying is that they are back on the way to being one. If you look just back 5 years there were 6 major wireless carriers and now we are down to 4. If and when sprint sells that will leave us with 3. The definition of a monopoly is when a company owns all or NEARLY all of the market or a given type of product or service. Id say this is not as far fetched as you seem to think douchebag. Take a business class then you can talk about competition and monopolies.
