They get an offer from SK to invest 5 bil, and retarded sprint says no thanks đŗ
Tim Donahue could have put them back on track, wow only sprint đ đ đ
...
Why are you seriously hating Sprint? They must have a good reason why they did not want the money or the investment. What makes you think Donahue will pull Sprint to its heyday? I seriously think Saleh is doing a damn good job and I hope he makes the necessary changes to keep this company moving forward.
...
Maybe you're not up on current events, but sprint in the toilet right now. If sprint had accepted this offer there could have been hope for sprint. Read up on what Tim Donahue did for Nextel and how he created the most loyal customer base ever, not to mention provided an excellent customer care team.
...
I am current with Sprint's news and yes they are in the toliet and no I don't think just Donahue will save Sprint. They need to get rid of all the executives and go down to the contractors that Sprint hires for customer service. Why don't you become an investor, buy some stock and give your two cents worth at an investor's meeting instead of using up blog space.

That wouldn't be a smart move! Are you sure you're up on current events đ¤Ŗ đ¤Ŗ

Donahue left Sprint in the middle of a huge embezzlement scandal that would be why they declined the offer.
...
Sprint you're making me cry! And who cares about the embezzlement scandal it's their money anyway. As long as he can provide a much better service for customers and bring back sprint into competition again. Geez 5 billion bucks, that could have been useful in moving the iden network much faster and improving the services. And come to think of it, why would they invest such an amount of money if everything will just go dwon the drain.
...
It was a bad decision but not a suprise. The company is not in the toilet because the leadership makes good judgements. The IDEN network is more of a liability at this point than an asset. Donahue did good things for Nextel. As a stock holder and user, I'd like to see Sprint succeed. At this point I just hope they don't spin off Wimax. That will be the nail in the coffin.

uhm i work at a sprint call center buddy i think i would know more than you...

I'm not current on Sprint, but the brief did say that Donahue would bring in a new management team. Wouldn't that be good?
...
Maybe, maybe not. Good doesn't always mean better. I think Tim Donahue should have been kept in the fold to begin with.
...
Ok people, the problem with Sprint is the customer service... one CEO isn't going to change that. Sprint declined because they want a totally NEW management team, as per the article.
...
Per the article
Donahue planned to bring in an entirely new management team.
They turned down a proven Super Star!
...
Do you know WHY Sprint turned down the offer? Unless you do, it's stupid to call them stupid. One new new CEO and $5 billion wouldn't do all that much for Sprint. And there are plenty of rumors out there that a much more financially lucrative option may soon be available.
...
Sprint has and continues to make a plethora of poor business decisions, IMO this is another one. Take your pick ace!
...
Seriously, who do you work for and why such hatred for Sprint?
...
I don't hate sprint I just think they suck, and deserve to be going through tough times for treating their customers like garbage.
Let stick to the article, what would you propose sprint do to turn around their customer care dept? You say you work for sprint in a call center, tell us why Donahue would not be a good fit, or why searching for another CEO is the better choice. Keep in my what Donahue did.
Nextel experienced record setting financial results under Mr. Donahue's leadership, with nine straight quarters of positive net income. Since becoming president and CEO of Nextel, he helped build Nextel into a Fortune 200 company; increasing the subscriber base to 16.2 million in 2004 and significantly reducing debt
...
dont forget about their crappy network im sure most of the 5 billion would have gone into fixing their sub par network.
...
snangNov 29, 2007, 8:46 PM
I've never had a problem with their network.
Where do you get your data that their network is "sub par"?
...
consider yourself fortunate then, i tried sprint twice the dropped calls was enough to drive me mad, not to mention poor indoor reception. sprints own churn is all the data stats that are needed, peeps be fleeing. it ain't for no reason.
...
your problem was probably due to lack of coverage and network volume NOT crappy management. As we all know anyway A CELLPHONE DOES NOT GUARANTEE SERVICE 100% OF THE TIME
...
Lack of coverage and network volume is just another thing. What Sprint need is someone who can manage the company much better and also focus on that part as well and this might be it and Sprint might have also blown it all away. I'm sure no one would invest 5 billion on a company which is currently in trouble unless they have a good reason and they might be seeing a good future for Sprint.
...
I mean really Sprint needs to step up and speak on why they decided to pass over the 5 billion dollars. I personally think that there is some bad blood between Donahue and Sprint therefore he was forced to retire. So far Saleh is moving the company to a positive direction and nothing will get fixed over time. Look at Forsee, he kept referring to "we will be better on next quarter" and obviously he drove the company down. Saleh has a lot on his plate and I think he will do a good job. So Cellenator, why do you say that you think that sprint sucks why are you complaining?
...

Yeah for grammar âšī¸
...
Why would you want Donahue in that spot? He is partially responsible for the problems that Sprint is having now. Remember that it was he who sold Nextel to Sprint. Donahue made out like a bandit selling that company at exactly the right time. Had Sprint passed on the deal, Nextel would have surely gone down the toilet on their own. Five billion dollars? That is chump change. Sprint is worth $45 billion right now. Which director in their right mind would vote to give that company away for 5 billion? What a joke!
