Sprint has had this on most of their phones for about a year now. I watch/ rented a movie on my 700P.
Don't you mean you watch/ rented a porno on your 700P?

Maybe my eyes are worse than most but that size screen doesn't make sense to watch pay per view.
As for actually watching stuff on your phone, I debate this. For example, the screen on the iPhone isn't TERRIBLE to watch video clips, or even 30 minute programs on...but would I really want to watch an entire feature length movie on it?

Mobile video/tv/movies can be very popular in communities where people commute to and from work via train, bus or ferry. In the US, there aren't a whole of places that fit that bill. Much of the northeast and then places like the Bay and maybe Seattle. It can be a niche market maybe, but it's probably not going to take off in middle America.
Seattle commuter here. I'm on the Washington State ferries almost everyday. Regular commuters watch movies on their laptop or already have a portable DVD player that can be purchased for around $100. So why would anyone want to watch a movie on a 3 inch screen at best?
With the increase in storage and wifi/wimax soon all phones will be capable of outputing the video as well as viewing.
We could also see that your phone will become your cable box.
So watching the movie on the phone might actually be replaced with buying the movie and downloading or streaming it to your phone then outputing then when you get near a wifi monitor and watching there.
Maybe?
