Looks like Sprint’s is destined to fail…period.

They had over two years to make the transition for the IDEN to CDMA and they fumbled the ball, moreover they still signing people on IDEN…its this crazy or what!!
Face it, IDEN is dead end technology, the future is not even CDMA but GSMis like HSPDA or else...so why would they still invest in old crap??

What Sprint needs to do is take advantage of the government announcement and use it to mass transfer all those people in IDEN, tell them you got until June of 2008 to move to CDMA or goodbye, that’s how things get done. An stop wasting money in dual handsets or other crappola; do this ASAP and they may survive, ‘cause once the government start fumbling with t...

For one, sprint was NEVER supposed to convert these IDEN customers to CDMA... NEVER! The voice part of IDEN is was overlapping on the 800mhz spectrum, not the PTT part. So what did sprint do about this, they had Moto invent the PowerSource (aka Hybrid) phones. So far only 25-30% or IDEN has been converted to powersource. The spectrum reconfiguration plan that Sprint agreed to several years ago called for them to give up spectrum in the bottom and middle of the 800 MHz band and to pay for relocation of more than 2,000 public safety agencies and other users to new spectrum. In exchange, Sprint would receive spectrum vacated by public safety operators at the top of the 800 MHz band and additional spectrum in the 1.9 GHz band. The resulting ...

Correct. Sprint never even had definite plans to ever completely shut down the PTT portion of its network. All of that depended on how well QChat worked.

Sprint has repeatedly stated to customers its timetable for the transitioning process. iDEN was to be around until at least 2012, and even possibly beyond. The FCC, not Sprint, is at fault here.

My prediction in this matter is that the courts will not allow the FCC to do this, and will extend the necessary time to Sprint to complete its network transitioning.
