I was attempting to pre-order the pearl when I ran into the data plan road block. After talking with 8 reps I finally spoke to someone in sales who knew what they were doing. The data plan with the new pearl if you are not using corporate email is 29.99 unlimited data and can be added to your plan as long as you change your existing plan, contract doesn't change, to the new nationwide plan. This includes family share plans. The 44.99 plan is still there for a choice but is geared towards corporate users. I got my new pearl for 99.00 after it was all done and the new plan. By the way, the new plans are the same as the old with the exception that mobile web is free they just changed the names of them. Just an fyi since I spent so long on this....

Let me clarify this for you and from the story. The new Nationwide plans take effect 11-1 and anyone who joins VZW, changes their calling plan, or purchases equipment that requires the plan (Voyager) will have to take the Nationwide plan. If you have a family share plan, you can add a line to the old plan still. If you have a single line and want to change to a family share plan you will have to go to Nationwide. Also a clarification on the monthly charges. If you have a Premium Nationwide plan...don't worry about it. If you have VCast (VPak, or TV Select)...don't worry about it. If you don't ever use the data features or downloads...don't worry about it. You can receive a one time credit if you accidentally enter a data call. I know peop...

Sort-of true...and this is the sad kicker. If you download a game that requires air time...no more air time...per MB. When you download a game, ringtone, picture, video...per MB. I have a feeling there will be tweaks as it goes but the concept will actually benefit customers...or cause a whole lot of escalations and complaints. Only time will tell starting............now

Where did you hear this from? In all the info that has been handed down to me, I haven't seen anything mentioned about a handset that was ONLY "Nationwide Compatible"

Due to the new HTML browser in the Voyager, it will require the Nationwide plan (because it charges by MB). Not to mention, the My Account was altered recently to show "MB/KB" usage before this plan change was launched. Surprised people didn't pick up on that.

This is one the many reason Sprint's data is much better. You want net access, the add the $15 vision pack. If you don't then don't add it it will have nothing to do with any plan you select. Much simpler.

A lil clairification on the usage being billed per MB... for example Mobile Web would take at least 100 pages to add up to just 1MB.. So rather than be charged 5.00/month for the Mobile Web access you may end up only paying 1.99/MB
It really isn't going to be all that bad.. Just like the previous person said.. People do not like change which is why people complain.. But you will adjust & you probably won't really see a big difference..

I just called verizon about this new so-called mobile web price change. the BIg part missng from the article is that no matter how little you use per month, its always gonna cost 1.99 minimum for a megabyte you didnt use a month. The thieves round up what ever you use to the nearest megabyte. Thieving scum bags. even if you use it for ten seconds and use like 1 single kilobyte. its 1.99! retarded. If they want to be fair it should go in like chunks of kilo bytes. like 10 cents per every 100 kilobytes.

You are an idiot. You are complaining that using 1 kilobyte will cost you $1.99. Before this new pricing you would have paid $5.00 for mobile web, even if you only use 1 kilobyte. So actually this new pricing structure is better for people that don't use the mobile web much. Next time try to think before you type.

If you do not wish to use the data feature Verizon Wireless does offer free block option and if you do not use things like mobile web or any other downloadables you will not pay anything if you do however use kb's no matter what you use it is rounded up the the nearest mb to keep things standard.
If you want to download new applications and not pay the kb fee Verizon wireless does off free Vcast for a month which does give you unlimited mb access. just remove it after you download all you apps by calling a vzw rep or stopping into a store and you data will be covered.

Because ALL the carriers don't charge you a full minute when you're only on the voice call for 15 seconds......whatever moron....
