I hope Broadcom is going to make a chip with EV-DO Rev. A, Bluetooth, and FM. CDMA needs some love also...

🤣 cdma is dying... with verizon turning to LTE (gsm) that leaves sprint whose switching to wimax, it would be economical for broadcom to waste the money producing further technology for cdma
...
CDMA is not dying and LTE is not GSM. It would be wise actually to continue to have REV A devices and chipsets as other places in the world, along with this country, will continue to have CDMA.
...
actually, LTE is GSM. more specifically, it's a pre 4G GSM UMTS Revision 8 comunication system technology. !BOOSH! i dont know about CDMA dying. wimax will be used in conjuntion with there REV A network. it's going to be a few years before noone uses CDMA.
...
Actually, LTE is not GSM at all, but it is supported by GSM. UMB is not CDMA either because both platforms use OFDM/A and MIMO. The only thing I think that both of these have a connection to their technology has to deal with that they can use their spectrum and infrastructure.

What a ridiculous statement.

CDMA is not done/gone/dying/etc. If you really think that, you should see what Japan and China are doing at this very moment. Most of japan is switching to CDMA, same with china. Why you may ask? It only because CDMA covers a larger area and can handle more connections. GSM has always been big only because they were the first in those countries. Once these countries switch, so will most of the world, except some small third world countries.
As nextel18 said, this statement is very ridiculous indeed!

I didn't say CDMA is done... I said Qualcomm is done... which #1. was a joke and #2 is not completely true, but partially true. The ITC ban is hurting Qualcomm... because of Broadcom, and Broadcom is still coming out with new chips.
All and all... Qualcomm gets hurt.
...
Well when you say that Qualcomm is done you really say CDMA is done too as they control all or most of that standard with their intellectual property. It isn’t true at all so why say it? You think just because Broadcom comes out with another chip means the downfall for a company as powerful and massive as Qualcomm? They could buy out Broadcom is they want. Don’t you think that when these chips come out for Broadcom, Qualcomm will be coming out with their own chips? By the way, the ban on the Qualcomm chips actually was stayed upon appeal. It allows for imports for Kyo, Moto, Samsung, Sanyo, T-mobile, LG, and AT&T. so far, Qualcomm isn’t getting hurt. Worst comes to worst they focus on BRIC than this country. You actually want ...

The chip that everyone is so excited about will not be available until 2009 I would not hold my breath. Besides Broadcom does not have a license from Qualcomm to us it's patents in a WCDMA chip.
