They are in almost last place when it comes to 3g and they are worried about other countires.

I think they screwed up on 3G spectrum-wise. They probably won't ever be able to deploy 3G in their 1900 MHz only markets due to lack of spectrum.

But 4G will come and everyone can start fresh!

Even if they didn't LTE only requires 1.25MHz instead of the 5MHz that UMTS does

yes it does but the to get the highest mbps you must combine 4 channels at least and if they don't have it then they won't be able to compete with wimax at all!

Still, 1.25MHz of LTE is a huge leap from whatever EDGE or EDGE+ they will have later.

If 20 MHz of LTE is 144 Mbps than wouldn't 1.25 MHZ be 9 Mbps? That's still way better than EDGE evolution and can hang with the 5 MHz of HSPA.

Actually, 20MHz of LTE gets 100mb/s not 144mb/s.

I thought it was supposed to be AT LEAST 100mbps and that 144mbps was demonstrated but hey, its still being developed. Still if 20 MHz is 100 mbps than 1.25 MHz would be 6.25 mbps which is still way better than the 7.2 mbps that is offered with UMTS requiring 5 MHz.

Everywhere I looked said up to 100mb/s. exactly, great comparison and mathematics. However, LTE, UMB, and Wimax are better than HSPA. That is true on a speed basis it is but on capacity and coverage, it is better too.

Well just to expand is always good especially into China, India, South Africa, and other places. Just have interest or what not a similar type situation with Vodafone.

Yes very true but it is always wise for companies to expand into new markets especially India and China. I think in some markets Voda is having issues but same with every other company who is dominating their home areas. Like NTT in Japan and its saturation issues.
