Phone as a modem is good for every now and then times you really need access to the internet and paying 40-50 bucks a month extra for it (depending on service provider) isn't worth it in my eyes. Not only that but the connection is typically bottle necked due to the phone processing the data before sending it to the PC. Look at getting a data card where the computer would do all the work and you can still use the phone at the same time you are online.

PDANet will probably work on it.
