When Verizon filed suit everyone complained that they were just getting greedy. But I'm sure ATT is doing this in a way that is noble and honorable....

Thats exactly what I was going to say!

Last time it was all about VZ being greedy, and selfish, and more BS'n about the UI and bluetooth. Where's their argument now? They don't have one on this case, because now their "network" has stepped in line beind "THE NETWORK!"

Actually, it depends on where you live and what kind of TracFone you get. There are GSM TracFones and CDMA TracFones. Each TracFone runs off from about every single carrier in the US that uses that technology. Thereby giving the person almost perfect coverage throughout the US.

I actually think that the CDMA TrackFones were the first to come out.

Um atlp99 (above) said it more eloquently than I ever could, but at&t, VZW, and frontline are challenging different aspects of the auction rules. Of the three, I would say that Frontline's argument is noblest. since all they want is an opportunity for the little guy to get in. VZW doesn't want to offer open access, period. At&t just doesn't want to give up a slice spectrum for emergency services agencies.

So from the context of this article, at&t and VZW are a bunch duchebags. But there's no way in hell that they will pass on this a...

Why doesn't the government have guts to set up the emergency services system? Maybe because they'd have to raise people's taxes to do it? It's much easier to implement a tax by forcing a corporation to do all the work and charge the tax as fee. What's next, force the trucking companies to build highways?

Yes, that is exactly what we need to have happening. Have the most inept group of people in the country (our government) setting up the emergency services system. And taxing all of us more to boot.
