If you can tell the difference between a 65K and 262K screen in normal usage (i.e. not a test pattern) then you have better eyes then me, and I stare at phone screens for a living. If your wallpaper is something like a sunset with very gradual gradient, then it might be noticeable when you look closely, but it's really not the issue most people make it out to be.

What's MUCH more important IMO is the screen resolution.

Just as important is that every single day there are advances in LCD quality that make them look even better - in important areas like contrast ratio and viewing angle that are so much more important in real-world usage than # of colors.

The fact is, by specs, the LX may have the best screen in a US mobile phone to date. It's the exact same display module Sharp puts in their top-end Japanese phones and they go out of the way to brand that screen "Aquos", which is also the brand of Sharp's high-end LCD TVs.

Sharp actually makes the LCD modules themselves. I'd love to vouch for their quality, but it's not really my place. I encourage you to look into Sharp's reputation when it comes to LCD panel quality and being on the cutting edge of LCD technology. I suspect you'll find they have an excellent reputation in those areas.
