Voltage regulation?

Some phones require a specific voltage to come off the charger in order to use it (ie. there's a Blackberry model that won't use a RAZR charger, even though it fits... you have to buy the special BB charger). Do you think they'll set all the phones to accept the same voltage, or will we still need to buy a specific charger for certain phones?

I was also curious about the electrical
interface details, Here is what I have found so far...

The OMTP (Open Mobile Terminal Platform) recommendation paper (URL below) refers to a USB forum document entitled _Battery charging specification 2.0_ from the USB Forum. I could not find the 2.0 document, but the 1.0 document (March 2007)...

You can use the Razr charger for a BB. I do it all the time with my Pearl. The Razr charger puts out a lower voltage than the BB charger so it just charges slightly slower. It's the other way around you want to avoid, using the higher voltage BB charger to charge the lower voltage Razr, although I doubt that once or twice would hurt it. Just my 2 cents... Furthermore I'm glad they decided to standardize charger ports!

they still want to sell accessories with every phone, so i doubt voltages will be regulated, each manufacture will have a different voltage so you cant use anothers charger.....that is if they wanna make money, and the last time i checked thats what a business sets its golas on...
