Don't they make money selling OEM accessories? This will hurt sales if people don't have to buy all new cables/stuff when they upgrade phones.
...
but i think this will help boost handset sales.. i know of customers who refuse to upgrade because they have to buy all new accessories everytime they switch handsets.. a lot of custies see it as a racket..
...
i wonder if wall chargers are going to still be included with the phone since they're all the same. any guesses? 👀
...
hmm after a few years on the standard platform i could see them being done away with as a way to cut costs..
...
No, accessories are so cheap, literally just a few pennies, im sure they will always come standard.
...
Lets just assume that's the plan, since handsfree kits used to come standard, and now t-mobile is the only carrier in the us that has them in every box....
...
you cant use the phone truly without its charger. it won't happen.
...
Wow, then I guess Verizon is really cleaning up on those chargers that cost $30+
...
Honestly accessories cost under a dollar to produce but then add the marketing, shipping, housing, and workforce... these are the basic things people ALWAYS forget to think about when saying "So and So make this and that for pennies or dime"
...
Okay, I can see logistics, but what marketing? I've never seen a Verizon ad on TV for a new charger. 😛

Don't forget the case, holster, and of course software that will allow people to use universal cables to download, this will still be a huge way to make revenue. I still tell customers to buy Universal pouches as they will be the best solution instead of a case. I went from RAZR to t809, D807, A900, KATANA, CU500, CU500v, RAZRv3xx, RAZr V3M, SYNC, w580i, and my new phone will be the PERIDOT & Katana DLX, 1 pouch for the last 3 years.
