How much spectrum do they actually have in the different areas they serve?

Carolinas, some of Georgia, Tennessee, all of Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands all in the 1900 band.

This will finally give T-Mo the coverage they need in the Carolinas (they are non existent in SC).

It's been a long time coming, but it's great to hear.

Well from the purchasing of the AWS spectrum they (T-Mobile) actually has spectrum in the Southeast(20mhz).

right but not the oher two places they also picked up. And like I said they may want to save that for the 3g data network. Also it would have taken time to deploy it in two states. I think they thought that the time it would take wa not in their best intrest!

Makes sense. they shouldn’t save their 3G network because if they don’t do it in the areas where they purchased spectrum the capital expenditures would be higher because of the fewer spectrum they use. Moreover, capacity could be threatened.

They have a very good size position. If I remember correctly, I think they have more than 10MHz+ in each of the markets they serve. You can go here, http://www.suncom.com/investor_relations/mark et_area.shtml, to see. If you cant for any reason I will list them here.

If I am correct they sold all their towers a couple of months ago!

That may be true but in the reports and on their website they still list that they have the 2000 towers. Perhaps they either haven’t updated the reports yet or perhaps it is after their sales of the towers earlier. Many carriers are starting to sell their towers.

Where do you see that? If they did indeed sell it, they need to remove it from their website and quarterly and annual reports. Since they did it in the month, when they report their next quarter earnings is where we should see that.

"SunCom will no longer own any wireless communications towers in its continental U.S. markets." I see now. Probably where I read the information in the documents I did not read it correctly. Thanks. They probably lease those 2000 that they said they have service on. I will get my contacts working on it. Probably doesn’t matter as much because they are still renting out those towers.

Yes. Quite common in this industry especially to save money on capital and operating expenses. The company who owns the towers have to do a lot to upkeep it while the renters don’t.

I am still trying to locate the exact spectrum positions, but what I can tell is that on average they have 30MHz across its Southeastern footprint. I will try to find more exact data.

Depending on the area, I wonder if the PCS spectrum is around 30mhz, if they would even try to release some 3G in the PCS band for that area, or if they'll do it strictly in the AWS band, with all of the licenses they acquired.

If I can remember correctly, from looking at the spreadsheet, they are PCS licenses and they do have on average of 30mhz. I can’t remember off the top of my head what exactly each market and licenses have but on average it is 30mhz.

30mhz isn’t a lot of spectrum especially if you want to use a lot for your data and voice packages so the T-mobile transaction allows them to add their holdings (which is a good amount) to Suncom’s to provide more capacity and compelling data and voice packages. They could always add that spectrum on the network but not deploy it for 3G services but to maintain the capacity and perhaps increase it. I think because of T-mobile’s purchase in the AWS auction, they should focus in Suncom’...

I know. They have done so many purchases/exchanges with spectrum, it is hard to keep track of.
