So they are already trying to get 3G phones? I guess that's a good sign...

Of course. They have 3G spectrum in which they are launching their 3G network later this year and into early next. Therefore, they are obviously going to come out with 3G devices.

so if I understand this correctly, T-Mobile is getting exxcited about launching 3G phones later this year, while other companies are testing and rolling out what appears to be a version of 4G networks?

does anyone else see a comopany that is a little behind, or am I just a little blinded by who i work for?

Only Sprint is doing 4G...

at&t and T-Mobile will probably do LTE together and it looks like VZW is going to go to UMB route unless they decide to jump on the Wimax boat (which would make sense since South Korea is going it and their favorite manufacturer LG is from there)

Well, same information I mentioned to BigShowJB I will mentioned to you but obviously in lesser of a post.

HSPA in certain revisions are actually mentioned to be closer to 4G than 3G. Wimax is obviously closer to 4G than 3G. T-mobile and Cingular will probably go do the HSPA model first with HSDPA first, HSUPA next following that with either HSOPA or LTE that you mentioned. Verizon as I mentioned earlier would probably look at REV C, UMB, and/or Scalable Bandwidth. They cannot do Wimax since they do not have the spectrum to do so. If they win the 700 MHz auction perhaps, that will change.

HSOPA can be considered 4G, I'll give you that. But I won't consider plain HSPA in any Revision anything more than 3.75G. I require the OFDMA

And isn't Rev. C and UMB the same thing? It uses OFDMA so it isn't anything like Rev. B or Rev. A

I would consider HSPA 4G more than 3G. Some early revisions are probably 3.75G but later revisions are slated to the 4G.

Actually, REV A, and B uses OFDM for some transmission. UMB also uses OFDMA but it combines basically the technologies like CDMA into one signal air interface, which is spectrum efficient. Of course with the addition of MIMO, UMB is better than A and B, allows for higher throughput but more importantly lower latency and allows enhance VOIP on the system. You are 100% right. REV C and UMB are the same thing. I do not know why I keep saying REV C and UMB. They used to be separate but now C has been designated UMB.

Well T-mobile is behind because they obviously got 3G spectrum very late and will be starting to launch the network shortly. The only company actually testing a 4G network and will roll it out in this country is Sprint with Wimax. T-mobile, Cingular will roll out HSDPA first, HSUPA next and probably look at either LTE or HSOPA. Verizon has not looked at their next generation yet but it probably depends on what they get on the 700 MHz auction. They could look at REV B, C, UMB, and/or Scalable Bandwidth.

Everyone knows T-mobile is behind and they are starting to get their act together with their massive purchase in the AWS spectrum, continue to build out towers, and roll out that 3G network. Spending should pick up on capital expenditures....
