Big turn out for the Storm

had to go to Apple this morning to get my phone checked. Since I was already at the mall I figured I would “Battle the Crowds” to see Verizon’s launch of the Blackberry Storm. It looks like they were all ready for the crowds too (With line barriers setup in front of the store)

I guess all their customers are at at&t stores buying iPhones!!!

They actually thought people would line up for it lol, sorry its no iphone haha

I got mine at lunch time but the store is now out of them (they said they're getting more tomorrow.) The VZW store was PACKED, but amazingly enough not a lot of people buying them- they were just there for other reasons.

most of the people buying them, however, did NOT look like the type of people who can afford the $80.00/month.

It's definitely not an iPhone, but RIM has giving Apple a run for their money. Like Apple, RIM does have a cult following. The only difference is that RIM owners like to keep their Blackberries until it dies.

It's TRYING to be an iPhone though, the problem is that it's still a Blackberry. As a diehard (now former) Blackberry user, the entire interface on this device just frustrated the crap out of me as it's horrible compared to the trackball.

The iPhone makes a good case for a touch UI, the Storm definitely doesn't.

The Storm is not a true Blackberry it has no trackball. It is a product of Verizon and RIM.

I know in my area the main verizon store sold about 90 storms in 5 hrs and the smaller store down the road sold all of their 40 storms in under 2 hrs.

If that isnt a strong showing on opening day i dont know what is

And you know.... until the Iphone gets that magical new app called "Picture messaging" I really don't want to hear crap from anyone about how it is better than anything.

But the iPhone can already send and receive pictures via Email, Facebook, Flickr, among others at no additional cost.

And the MMS rates for the Storm are absurd.

Are you high? I'm not trying to be mean, but they are included in the messaging packages. From your posts, it sounds like you are just trying to be hateful.

As far as the iPhone not having pix messaging, it's super simple to send a pic using email, even phone to phone, as all phones have email addresses. So technically, it does have picture messaging.

On topic, I played with a Storm today. The first display model was pretty crappy, the second one I was highly impressed with. I ordered one as they were sold out and will use the 30 days to try it out. Vzw just did away with their restocking fee which was crap. Unfortunately, ATT still has theirs.

The iPhone is cooler adn has a better UI, but the ATT coverage isn't all that compared...

The Storm did in fact have a big turn out. So big it crash the system Verizon uses to process the orders for the Storm. They even had long lines outside the store.

But the Storm is no iphone killer and is really no big improvement for BB phones. The biggest selling point is the touch screen and it stinks. It should be called a push screen not a touch screen.

BB need to go back to the drawing board. The amount of work it takes to use the screen defeats the whole purpose of having a touch screen. I see no reason to by this phone over a BB Bold or even a Curve. 😎
