Review: BlackBerry Storm

I stopped by my local VZW store this afternoon and tried out the demos they had available. They were all buggy. The accelerometer did not respond well, and in fact, one of the two demos wouldn't even show the web in portrait mode...only landscape. The OS was very slow and at times the virtual keyboard would not go away once it was activated. Things were getting so bad that I even shut down and restarted both of the demo units to see if that would help. I just couldn't believe that they would display two units that performed so badly on opening day.

I have read practically every review from all of the major websites, as well as many of the minor sites too (this one, phonearena, engadget, pcmag, crackberry, etc.) and some have said that the OS on the demo units are old versions, yet they did not know if or when the new versions would be released and how much better they would work.

I really want to like this phone and am willing to be an early adopter, however I had to miss day 1 of early adopting due to the poor performance of the two in-store demos.

Someone please write in with some positive experiences from an actual purchased unit so that I can go out and get the phone tomorrow. Otherwise it's back to the drawing board and my original Q (which I am still currently using, but thankfully have no contract) died about 1-1/2 years ago.
