I would disagree with this. Unless you have fully reviewed the phone in person, this statement has no basis. I have used a dozen touch screen phones, and they all have huge delays. I would state that the Iphone has a very fast user interface reaction. But lets at least let the full blown version with the newest software launch on the 21st before you say, c'mon, it takes forever to make a call even.

This phone is the FASTEST touch screen unit to place calls HANDS DOWN. You cant out-type it like you can samsung, lg and iphone too... you can type as fast as your litte thumb can go and the number is on the screen for you... 😁

To be fair, we gave RIM/Verizon a second chance. They shipped us a second review unit. Unfortunately, it experience ALL THE SAME PROBLEMS that the first review unit did. Obviously, then, the Storm's problems were not device specific. There is an issue with the actual software/hardware. If you check other reviews on the web today, you'll see similar reports.

Our review units were running system software 4.7.0.65. To the best of our knowledge, the latest build is 4.7.0.80, which is much improved. If/when that build will become available to handsets is unknown. We're checking with Verizon to get an answer.

where do i find software...? i dont doubt the lag, frankly, you have lag in all BB as the sever is updating, and this could seem even worse when the device is trying when using the acc'lmeter or any multi-media command. As an example: the acc'lemeter is beter on my camera or even my ipod, but that is not WHY you or your business chose BB for PIM. This is a solid balance of work & play for those that want a little something more from a BB experience. Since the BES pings the device with a great freq than other PDAs, the unit will suffer a little from a little lag trying to please everyone.

from what i understand there is an over the air update for the storm. its not the prl update but a firmware fix for some of the issues out there. im not sure how to start it from the phone but i would check with a vzw tech to make sure your phone has the latest build. plus im sure ther will be more updates as time progressees.

Hi Eric!

I am a bit confused on your review. You say RIM sent you another unit, but it had all the same problems(general lag), but then you state your review unit was using 4.7.065 when the newest build is 4.7.0.80 which you say is much improved.

So I guess my question is, are you reviewing the old build or the "much improved" .80 build?? Because to be honest with you I got my hands on an early model with the new over the air upgrade and the unit I handled had no where the lag you were experiencing in your video review.

I just got mine today and it is a little slow. However, the update that's suppose to come out in a week or so will fix that. Almost every smart phone, due to the complexity of the hardware and software, (including the iPhone) had problems when it came out. The iPhone actually still has issues they need to fix. I know this, because I have one. I trust RIM will work on this right away and send the OTA as soon as they have it.
