ALWAYS!!!!

The only thing this bill will do if it is passed is raise the basic rates of all things wireless. the phones will get more expensive, and the plans will have either fewer minutes, higer rates, or both. If these anti-business left-ingers could have it there way, customers would pay exorbitant taxes, and the government would provide all the services, leaving the free market and businesses out in the cold

to create new programs, new governmental revenue is needed. The government gets most of it's revenue from taxes. I do disagree that this is a slippery slop arguement too, but to an extent he/she is right. If the government increases control costs do go up (for the government and the carrier). Remember costs to the government include both new money and moving money from other programs (so education may get less money again). So they will create a committee that will waste more time and draw focus away from other stuff that MAY BE MORE IMPORTANT. /rant 😛

i didnt hear of a new program being introduced and dont make this a right/left issue because its the republican congress and republicans period whom are only conservatives in name only and only call themselves conservatives because they are stained by this rabid group of blood-thirsty christian, morally obsessed war mongering demons, who makes the government bigger, like the waste of money homeland security, now tell me that isnt a new agency that requires more money! and time from the government, and tell me that the republicans didnt approve that

The most direct way it would raise rates is if the government did some damn fool thing like ban early termination fees. Then either the cost of phones or services would go up to compensate.

that is exactly what would happen, and that is exactly what this law is all about. For those who haven't realized it yet, businesses get their money, one way or another. It is never the business that suffers when government(mostly congress) sticks their big, fat overbearing nose into things, the consumer is always the one to bear the cost of a law that says business cannot do something. But there are the democrats, saying "Look what we did for you! WE told them they can't charge you this fee!" neglecting to make any mention of the fact that the cost was only shifted into a different part of the equation. They take the free out of free market.

So if anyone is hesitating at all to say that this congress is doing wonderful things and ...

how about telling these damn businesses to stop charging rediculous fees and termination fees, that will stop all the bullshit alltogether if you dont want gov't interference. think about the consumers for a damn change and the working families who have to pay these bills for once instead of the businesses. they have billions of ****ing dollars they can get revenue in other ways.

Did it ever occur to you that the services you want actually cost a lot of money to provide and that is what you are paying for? If you want your precious "free" phone (that actually cost's at least $200) then the carrier has to get that $200 discount back somehow that is why you have to sign a contract and if you break your contract you have to pay the ETF. If you can't afford a cell phone then why did you get one? The companies are not out to screw the customers over but if everything was free and cheap then there wouldn't be a company to give you service. Think about that and not just how you think you are getting screwed because everything is not free.

Over and over, we are not talking about subsidized phone contracts, we are not talking about subsidized phone contracts, do I need to repeat this over and over and over and over and over, do you get the point?

We are talking extensions on contracts for nonesense like adding texting plans or more minutes.

VZW will extend your contract for that and for adding minutes. I'm sure Sprint does the same, or breathing within 2 sq. miles of one of their towers.

Then there's the corporate shills who hang out here who feel anything, any of the mobile companies is just fine by them and we should all suck it in and take it.

VZW does not extend you contract if you add a text package only if you go to the unlimited text plan because it is a price plan not a feature.

I know sprint does not extend you contract for adding a text package. If by adding minutes you mean changing plans, then yes most carriers do that. As they should because you are changing the terms of the original two year contract wich you agreed too in the first place.

Do we really need to mention welfare, public schools, bridgework, social security here in the US, and canadian patients waiting 45 days for EMERGENCY bypass surgery on GOVERNMENT health insurance only to go to cleveland and detroit to get it done in four or less?

You can throw into this the Canadians have longer life spans and lower infant mortality rates.
