Verizon will offer songs at .99 to truly compete with i tunes and others and not keep songs at a ridiculous $1.99 a song.

The reason it's 1.99 is because a copy of the song is transmitted to the phone and another copy to your computer. So technically that's two purchases so royalties have to be paid twice.

Having the option to only download to the phone would be nice, though.

I've got a ? When you download a song OTA does it go directly to a memory card, or first the handsets internal memory. Most handsets don't really have a real good amount of internal memory, personally, I'd prefer a download to go directly to the memory card.

VZW does compete with iTunes at 0.99 per song when you buy them on your PC just like you have to with iTunes. The 1.99 price is for buying htme over the air.
