FCC Approves HTC's 3G Kaiser
Why AT&T?!
I did completely miss the "only 3G" portion of the phone though, thanks.
The phone itself does GSM,GPRS/EDGE quad band. So it will work on T-Mobile and any GSM carrier. It doesn't need 3G to operate. If that were the case it wouldn't even work on AT&T as they don't have 3G everywhere yet.
But it would be a bit of a waste to put it on a non 3G carrier. The Herems (TyTn/8525) is good enough for GSM.
Because HTC is in the business of selling phones through carriers and AT&T is the US carrier with the most users - thus, the most potential sales.
T-Mob doesn't have an operating 3G network yet so who is going to ante up the extra bucks for a 3G phone whose 3G advantages the user cannot access?

Right, and its up to TM to get this phone, doubtful there's an exclusive on it. Its also up to TM to get HTC to provide TM's up and coming 1700umts in this phone.
Its not up to you, me or any user of any service to decide who gets the Kaiser, its up to the carrier.
