I wonder what they are planning on using it for if they happen to win it.

Google is trying to buy everything to create a free system of useful things, so i wouldnt doubt something free coming out of this for the general public.

I love google.

yes, Google seems to be very technologically liberating!!!

I've got a feeling though, that it won't be until somewheres around Spring of 2010 before we really know what Google is really up to with them wanting 700mhz band.

And my next AT&T contract will probably be expriring around that time, late '09, early '10. so I'll be nice and ripe, and ready to go wherever the best stuff is @ the begginning of the next decade.

Things are going to change so, so fast in the next 3yrs! It really is exciting!

Yeah, well, it's up to THEM to do something about they're restrictive government!!! If they except it as a way of life, then shame on them, but if they do something about it, like America did against Britain, 200plus years ago, good for them.

It's all about whether they just except it as part of life. Kinda like how people in parts of L.A. except gangs as part of life, or they can DO something about it!!!

Google is helping the government of China restrict Internet access.

Exactly, and the saying that there is something wrong with a country because you don't believe in the structure of government(or rather because you've been brainwashed by left over coldwar hype about "The Reds!") is stupid, the way the chinese government(if you know anything about there path to revolution) went is the way that was best for there survival as a nation, and as a people, and it was not nearly as bloody as european bolshevism.... on top of that it works for them, you don't have half the countries population violently opposing the current scheme of things. we as a culture could stand to learn a few things about discipline and hard work, if we had angry sharks(Google, Microsoft, CitiGroup) wouldn't be roaming the world eating peopl...

Yeah, but I would accept a world domination by Google...if you have ever seen "Office Space" where they take the fax machine out and beat it with a bat...well...that's how I feel about every Windows device...including phones.

their gov't is no more restrictive than ours(ok china may be a lil more harsh than we are, but its safer!), our's just spits out propaganda that we are "free" when we dont have the right to say wat we want, protest, or other things, not to mentioned our heavily censored media(music, watered down journalism, tv shows)

the chinese has not experienced wealth and security for a very very long time, since the british and japanese rape of china. the chinese wants to focus on economic growth, more disposable income, higher standards of living. democracy is not easy to accomplish, especially 1.3 billion people, it its even possible(india is not a shining example of a democratic pop. of 1billion people), stop picking on china,

you seem to have amnesia, remember the Tianamen Square tragedy, that was a step, but the generation of chinese people barely remember it, children and people my age barely remember that event. and how can u say "if they except it as a way of life, then shame on them", it took blacks decades to end apartheid in this country, and freedomn, im sorry people here dont want it[freedom] when people are wiling to surrender their freedom for "protection from terrorism" or "security"
