Are Dobson customer's going to lose their rate plans when we go with AT&T

I am a Dobson customer and I hope that I can still retain my rate plan Nation 1500 w/ m2m for 50.00. It has a bunch of minutes for 50.00 the reason why it is so cheap is that you can't add a partner line to it, don't need one anyways.

I know AT&T will not retain Cell One's statewide unlimited plans do to roaming. I will make sure I get some bonus minutes I don't think AT&T will do this.

The comprable plan is 1350 min plan for 79.99. 1500 for 50.00 do you see the problem that AT&T is going to come across. Any AT&T reps know if AT&T are going to make former Dobson customer give up their awesome plans. I don't care if they don't give me rollover I average 1000 minutes a month. What do you think are Cell One customer's going to lose...

I can tell you that I am not going to give up my unlimited plan without a fight I am resigning my contract asap to lock in for 24 more months, I think that all cell one customers need to start emailing at&t and let them know that we intend to switch to another carrier if they try to take our rate plans from us, alone we are weak but if we all stick together we are strong.

But these are not national plans right? You should be alright but there's a chance you might not be able to upgrade with them. I'm sure we'll find out soon how this will all go down.

If I'm not mistaken, Cingular did away with all regional plan, making all of their plans national. I might still have a copy of the letter I received stating my previous Florida regional plan (which basically covered a few counties) would become a national plan at no extra charge, and the only difference I would notice is that I would not be charged roaming anywhere in the United States.

is that a plan from the AT&T Wireless days, or did that plan come from Cingular? I'm sure you can't grab that plan if you're signing up today, can you?

My letter was after the AT&T Wireless to Cingular conversion (no, I didn't migrate, my GSM plan was simply converted over). I know the Cingular side regional plans were converted, as my roommate had her regional converted to national, and she was always a Cingular customer.

As the case with AT&T Wireless GSM plans, Cingular simply converted them over and you were grandfathered in. However, you would not be able to upgrade to a new phone unless you chose a current Cingular plan. The rollover was good enough for a lot of people to switch, but it depends on your plan and your usage.

I still have my AT&T Wireless plan because it provided me coverage in Canada (roaming and long distance) for a monthly charge of 9.99, which the hell of a lot less than I'd pay in roaming charges over the course of the year (well, actually 8.09 with our discount), but still multiplying the monthly service charge by 12 and adding taxes is far less than I would pay for Canadian roaming in year.

More then likely, the SOP is going to be the same as when Dobson switched customers with the previous AT&T wireless back in 2003. At that time, Dobson and AT&T both honored each others' contracts, but only until the contract period expired. At that point, customers were required to sign up for new contracts/rates with the new company, and previous rate plans were not honored.

I know how you feel because I went through the same thing back then, as I had a thousand nationwide minutes with unlimited nights/weekends for 34.99, but that same rate plan through Dobson was nearly twice that.

Depending on how much time you have left on your contract, I would see about signing up for a new, and possibly longer, contract at your current rate be...

o.k. I read your comments and they are very informative thank you! Here is my situation when the switch is going to happen I will still have 7 months of my contract remaining w/ Dobson.

If the situation is if you upgrade you will need to change your rate plan to an AT&T plan. That will mean if I were to start my service with AT&T obviosly I would need a AT&T new phone.

Here is my question if I purchase an AT&T phone at retail cost and I refuse t change my rate plan to an AT&T plan would I be able to retain my Dobson rate plan?

Or since I would not be under contract with AT&T they can say I need to change my rate plan since AT&T would not have an obligation to fullfill any promises since I am out of contract?

I have a nation 160...
